Pollution Essay with Quotations

Pollution essay with quotations, headings, definitions, types of pollutions and preventions are given below.

Introduction:

Pollution can be defined as the release or introduction of harmful material to the environment.  The term pollution also refers to the materials that insert negative impacts on the environment and also the organisms that exist in that affected environment.  These harmful material that cause negative impacts on our environment are known as the pollutants.  Pollutants can be natural and also created by the human activities.  Natural pollutants include volcanic ashes meanwhile human introduced pollutants are trash or runoff produced by the raw materials of the factories.  Pollution affects the whole environment including water, land and air equally.

“Environmental pollution is an incurable disease. It can only be prevented”

Barry Commoner

     Types of pollution:

There are four major types of pollution, definitions, causes and preventions are following;

  • Air pollution
  • Water pollution
  • Soil pollution
  • Noise pollution

Air pollution:

Air pollution can be defined as the defilement of indoor and outdoor environment by induction of chemical and biological agents that changes the natural outlook of the environment.  Major cause of air pollution is suspending certain gases in the air.  The main source of contamination of air is gases evolved from the engines of cars and vehicles, truck exhausts, factories smoke, volcanoes and wildfires.  These solid or liquid particles suspended in the air are known as aerosols.  Air pollution is really dangerous because it causes health hazards which include heart diseases, lungs cancer, respiratory disorders and long-term damages to kidneys as well.

“Air pollution is turning mother nature prematurely grey “

We can reduce air pollution by reducing the use of cars and vehicles.  These cars and vehicle trips can be replaced with some other transportation sources like using bicycles etc.  Other way of reducing the air pollution is planting numerous trees.  These trees help to clean our environment from harmful gases.  Avoid burning leaves trash and other materials in open environments.  Build big factories and industries far away from the living areas.

Water Pollution:

Contamination of water resources by releasing certain materials and particles which make the water unstable for drinking purposes, cooking and washing is known as water pollution.  Water pollutants may include harmful chemicals, trash, garbage, bacteria and parasites.  All kind of pollution makes their way to water and is interlinked.  Key causes of water pollution include leakage of oils and chemicals from the containers trade effluents exposed to the watercourses which removes a lot of water from the ground.  Water bodies get polluted which affects adversely all forms of life.  Rapid urban development, improper sewage disposable and oil spills are the major causes of water pollution.

“Don’t be mean , Keep water clean “

Water pollution affects adversely the biodiversity which depletes the aquatic ecosystem.  According to the report of United Nations more deaths are caused by the water pollutants than all other causes including wars.  Waste from the human and animals that contaminates the water carries bacteria and viruses that become the major cause for spreading diseases including typhoid and cholera.

We can avoid water pollution be draining water to plants and trees instead of water bodies.  Moreover dispose of toxic chemicals properly, do not pour grease and fats down the drain and dispose of medical wastes properly.

Soil Pollution:

Soil pollution is caused by the releasing toxic chemicals to soil in enough concentration to cause a risk to health or the ecosystem.  The root causes of soil pollution include agricultural pesticides, industrial activity and poor and inefficient disposal of wastes.  Acid rain also contaminates the soil.  Soil pollution is also hazardous as contaminates soil condition leads to respiratory diseases, skin diseases and other health problems.  In short soil pollution is invisible affliction which is exposed when the concentration of pollutants reaches a stage to risk the biodiversity.

“Forming pollution is easy but resolving impact of it is difficult “

Preventions and control measures of soil pollution include minimized use of pesticides and herbicides, judicious use of fertilizers and agricultural techniques should be improved to prevent the growth of weeds.  Proper management of dumping wastes and controlled forests management can be helpful for preventing the soil pollution.

Noise pollution:

Noise pollution is an invisible risk that can be felt only.  Though it can’t be seen but it is present in the environment and under the sea as well.  Noise pollution can be defined as any unwanted sound that affects the health of living organisms in the ecosystem.  There is a direct relation of noise and health.  Hazards related to noise pollution include stress illness, high blood pressure and lifetime hearing loss as well.  Key roots of noise pollution are traffic noise, construction sites, industrial noise and other forms of unwanted sounds.  Sleeping disorders and cardiovascular issues are the major effects of noise pollution.

“I rant and rave about the noise pollution”

Pollution prevention is a practice that reduces or eliminates the pollutants from our ecosystem and is known as P2.  P2 is also known as source reduction.

To conclude environmental pollution should be the main concern of management to save our ecosystem.  We can adapt various measures to reduce the environmental pollution.  Some of them include planting trees, using public transport proper disposable of wastes etc
